About the Project- I was tasked with creating a series of informative, character-driven spots to illustrate several social issues that don’t get the attention or understanding they deserve. Initially my client was looking for traditional 2D animated characters to act out the story, however I really wanted to explore using 3D characters and thought that the idea of making them feel like stop-motion miniatures would give them an endearing and friendly appeal. I used Rokoko Studio’s facial motion capture paired with iPhone to record the lip-sync and applied it to my custom characters. After animation was complete, I resampled the animation at 12fps for that stop-motion feel.
Software- Maya, After Effects, Rokoko Studio (facial motion capture), Redshift Render.
